I continue to be outraged by this administration. This goes far beyond simple politics and is instead about the very core of these people’s humanity.

The Trump Administration is battling in court to deport people to South Sudan, even though none of them are from there. Not a single one.

Here’s a quote from one article on the situation, from the Associated Press.

The administration has been trying to deport the immigrants for weeks. None are from South Sudan …The immigrants, who hail from Laos, Mexico, Myanmar, Vietnam and other countries..

Let me repeat those:

Laos.

Mexico.

Myanmar.

Vietnam.

How on earth can this administration deport people to a country they’re not even from? Heck, they’re not even from the same continent.

South Sudan, in green. I would have also colored in the countries the immigrants are from, but they are not even visible on this map.

How can we just send these people to a country they have no connection to?

And not just any country. One torn apart by war, famine, and instability. See the “…” where I skipped over part of the text in my quote?

Let me fill that back in:

South Sudan, which is enmeshed in civil war and where the U.S government advises no one should travel before making their own funeral arrangements .

This is absolute heinous cruelty. Evil, pure and simple.

I remind my readers of the Eighth Amendment to the Constitution, which declares in full:

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

For those who want to try to weasel out and make excuses for the cruelty, because they think it’s okay to do this to “them,” I will note that it doesn’t say that cruel and unusual punishments can be inflicted on non-citizens.

It says the government shall not inflict cruel and unusual punishment. Period. Full stop.

The Declaration of Independence, the one we celebrate the 249th anniversary of today, says that “all men are created equal.” I guess that’s unless you’re not from here, because then we can ship you off to die. We are betraying the very Declaration we pretend to celebrate.

How does anyone with a heart and a conscience send people to certain death?

Oh right, Nazis don’t have a heart.

Fascists don’t have a conscience.
