No Kings Day

Yesterday was the largest protest in American history.

Seven million people were out, in large cities and small towns.

I attended the event in my hometown, just as I did for the first No Kings Day in June. I was heartened by several things.

The group yesterday was much larger than the June event.

I don’t have official numbers, but I’d say it was twice the number of people from my eyes.

Here’s the crowd on June 14, 2025:

Compared to the crowd on October 18, 2025:

The support/opposition dynamic was completely different from last time.

There were lots of people cheering us on from the road as we marched.

Horn honks and waves were plentiful. Last time there were some people who stepped out of stores to watch and silently support us, but no real vocal displays of support.

Here’s just one example of literally dozens yesterday:

Meanwhile, we only encountered a single person who argued with us.

A woman driving by stuck her head out the window to scream “Trump is the president!”

Thanks…

We know…

That’s why we’re out here.

Contrast that with last time, when we had people threaten to run us over, as I’ve shared before.

I especially enjoyed the creativeness of the No Kings rally members. We had people in fun outfits and humorous signs…

Protestor with sign reading "I will send a fully armed battalion to remind you of my love! Da d da da da daaa"
Crowd of protestors with signs reading "Towanda" and "I only want ICE in my margaritas"
Protestor holding sign that reads "Things are so bad even the introverts are here!"
Protestor in Garfield costume, and another holding a sign reading "Stop pretending your racism is patriotism!"
Protestors holding signs reading "Free balls for members of congress who have lost theirs" and "I'm just mad as hell 'cause I loved this place"

… while the President of the United States posted an AI-generated video of himself wearing a crown and literally shitting on the American people.

Despite what Mike Johnson says, these protesters weren’t part of any “hate America” crowd. And we certainly weren’t paid to be there.

We speak up because we love America, and all that she stood for these past 249 years.

As I chanted yesterday, “This is what democracy looks like!”
